Four Sessions over Two Days - 17th and 19th September, 2018

Speaker: David Oakes - David has over 20 years' experience in financial markets education. Before moving full-time into training and consulting, David was Director of Academic and Professional Education at the ICMA Centre at the University of Reading in the United Kingdom, and Lecturer in Finance at Warwick Business School, the University of Reading and the University of Exeter.

Overview: In this unique series of four half-day sessions, David Oakes will discuss a range of topics of current relevance to accountants and other service providers in financial markets. Three of the sessions are directly concerned with the rapidly evolving market for alternative assets, including hedge funds, liquid alternatives and private equity. The fourth session offers an introduction to the complex and sometimes bewildering system of netting, collateralization and price adjustments used to control and correct for counterparty risk in derivative transactions.

Learning Objectives:

Participants should emerge from these interactive sessions with a fuller understanding of the risk and opportunities in alternative assets and derivatives and have a clearer perspective on how changes in these markets are likely to affect their roles as auditors, fund administrators, accountants, finance professionals, and directors.
