Join us for this NASBA-accredited training course, which examines how wallets work in the crypto currency space and their possible use in a regulatory context.

Crypto Wallet 2024 will help participants gain a greater understanding of blockchain wallet technology and their interaction with various blockchains. This discussion will focus on institutions such as broker dealers, exchanges and private fund investment advisors and not retail investors. The seminar will explain how wallets work in specific crypto currency applications, the use of public and private keys, and the security around wallets in specific crypto assets.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Define a blockchain wallet
  • Generally discuss wallet creation:
    • Private Key
    • Public Key

  • Understand wallet creation specific to:
    Proof of Work (PoW)
    • Proof of Stake (PoS)
    • Bitcoin
    • Ethereum

  • Understand how wallets interact with blockchains

  • Understand the wallet technology that identifies transactions to the blockchain

  • Discuss hot and cold wallet storage

    Leading the seminar is Michael B. McDonald, PhD. Michael has served as a business consultant for various companies, providing training and content authoring services as a subject matter expert in finance and economics for firms like IBM and Stanley Black & Decker. Previously, Michael worked as a data scientist for a tech start-up in the financial industry, as a municipal bond trader for Wachovia Securities holding a Series 7 and Series 63 license, and for a large hedge fund in doing data mining and analysis.

    He is currently Assistant Professor of Finance at Fairfield University in Connecticut.
